I only came to know Allan from his kindness to my mum and dad, Jean and John Robinson, who lived opposite him on Glamis Road in Leyland. My dad loved spending time with Allan and they spent many an hour sitting chatting on the garden wall and putting the world to rights. Dad had become carer to my mum following her strokes and deteriorating mobility and i think he turned to Allan as someone who could empathise with him and maybe offer him some advice after seeing how well he cared for his late wife.
As my parents aged and started to become a little vulnerable, Allan looked out for them, helping my dad with his gardening jobs and he would often pop round for a chat or a cup of tea. As I lived in Cheshire with a family of my own and a full time job it was difficult to visit as often as I would have liked and I felt more at ease knowing Allan was just accross the road and willing to keep an eye on them.
The world is a better place for having people like Allan in it. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend his funeral as I am currently on holiday. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Thank you Allan for just being you 💜.
